Review of Against Time And Destiny by Alka Dimri Saklani

Against Time And Destiny Alka Saklani

The Blurb:

Love can be healing.

Love can be devastating.

Love can be dangerous.

On a misty morning, I meet a darkly handsome stranger, Samarth Ahuja. Our journey starts with aversion and attraction, a deadly combination. I learn our differences early on – I nurture, he destroys. I feel everything, he feels nothing. He is affluent, I am destitute. But when he promises to help me find my father who disappeared years back, I see the good in him, before I see the mask.

Forced to share a roof with him, I witness what the world failed to see… the darkness of his past, the despair, the damage, and yet, the hidden radiance, the hope, the promise. Slowly, I help him heal before he shatters me. Slowly, his love fills me up, before his betrayal empties me.

On a rainy night, destiny separates us, and his betrayal fills my heart with hatred – born out of love; again, a deadly combination.

But wait! It’s not the end. Our paths cross again.

However, will he be able to rekindle my love for him despite all odds? Or will the lava of revenge destroy both of us?

My Review:

“Most people reach the top of the world chasing their dreams. I have reached here chasing my cow Rimjhim.” This is how the books starts and I was immediately enchanted. I was sure, no matter the story was about, I would enjoy the book, just because of the way the author has with words. Language that makes you smile by its sheer beauty and simplicity.

Once I started reading the book, I got hooked on to the story as well. Told from both Pihu’s and Samarth’s point of view, it is compelling. The characters are strong. The emotions are raw. Love, betrayal, revenge. Hopes dashed and resolve strengthened.

The book is a story of love. It is life at its worst and best. Though I loved the book, I could not read it at one go. I needed a break from the intensity of emotions, because they are so real, I felt I was experiencing them.

This is the first book I have read by Alka Dimri Saklani. I have just got a new author to add to my Must Be Read list.
