Blood Trail is the third book in the Undercover series by Ruchi Singh.
The BLurb
Trisha is mortified as a stranger flirts with her at a society party. The very fact that he singles her out, and she gives in to her pent-up desires and attraction towards the handsome stranger, lands her in a soup so deadly that it brings danger and death to her doorstep.
Coming out of a brutal undercover assignment, busting a major drug cartel, Armaan is looking for some peace and quiet. Instead his path crosses with Trisha Mehra’s.
Sparks fly. As do bullets too.
By sheer coincidence, when they meet again, they have an accident. Again!
And IB agent Major Armaan Joshi does not believe in coincidences.
My review
The book as the name suggests is a crime thriller. Yet there is another story within the story which really appealed to me. It is the relationship between Trisha and her brother Tushar who is a special needs child.
The author has depicted the challenges of someone dealing with a special needs child so realistically. She does not make Trisha out to be a super woman dealing with everything that life throws her way. She is a woman who knows she needs help and does take the help of her neighbour who Tushar only trusts and is comfortable with because she is familiar.
The tantrums that Tushar throws though he is almost an adult, and the calm way that Trisha handles him is so real. Anyone who has had to look after a special needs person can relate to it.
Coming to the “crime thriller”part of the story, it did thrill. The story moved forward at a brisk space. Full of action, you keep wondering what is going to happen next. It left no time for the reader to feel bored.
The two parts of the story knit together seamlessly to create a book that is really good.It is a book you just have to finish even if you sort of guess the end.
